What we did
In the country of Brunei Darussalam, primary schools are run by the government (27 in number during the implementation process) As an Islamic state the education is economical which will be purely based on their economic conditions and social structure. Concession and discount is provided based on complex parameters. Further they had introduced a next GEN assessment system namely SPN21 that considered the family background and related information apart from the performance of the student. For example-a student who scored high marks could be detained in the same class and student scored lesser marks can be promoted to the next class based on certain social factors and parents' wishes and their background. This required a robust assessment model driven by documentation and process flows. Also, the teachers were also rotated between schools requiring roster management. The entire school management system was maintained through excel sheets. No standard naming convention has been maintained viz., subjects, syllabi and exams. Migration from conventional method to the contemporary global standards was next to impossible as there was no proper system envisaged to accommodate their practical requirements. Microsoft dynamics has ventured to implement a proven system in other countries but failed to comply to the government's needs.
Benefits : FocusRAi was able to with emPLUS fulfil the requirements. The project was also used as a time to improve processes and ways of working. Project implementation was done on a record time and one full cycle from admission, assessment to student promotion was done with the respective team in place.
